ABOUT THE NORTHERN NEVADA WATER PLANNING COMMISSION

Welcome to the online information source for the Northern Nevada Water Planning Commission. Here you will find information on Commission members, meeting notices, agendas, agenda packets and minutes, staff contacts and all documents and publications including the 2016-2035 Comprehensive Regional Water Management Plan.

Chapter 531, Statutes of Nevada, 2007 (the Western Regional Water Commission Act), created a regional water planning entity in Washoe County named the Western Regional Water Commission (WRWC). The Act, effective April 1, 2008, also created the Northern Nevada Water Planning Commission (NNWPC).

The NNWPC is a technical advisory panel that reports to the WRWC. The NNWPC is responsible for developing and updating a Comprehensive Regional Water Management Plan (RWMP) and recommending it to the WRWC for adoption. In addition, the NNWPC develops priorities and an annual budget for the Regional Water Management Fund, also for recommendation to the WRWC. Recommendations for annual budgets and for funding individual projects that implement the RWMP, consistent with annual priorities, typically appear on the NNWPC’s monthly meeting agendas.
